'If you can imagine how it feels to have a fluid, light

balanced body, free of pain, stiffness and chronic stress,

at ease with itself and the earth's gravitational field, then

you will understand the goals of structural integration'

 Dr. Ida P. Rolf

Athletes,  dancers, students of  yoga and meditation, musicians,

business people, people riddled with chronic pain and stress, people

from all walks of life and all ages, come to Structural Integration not only

for relief from their pain and stress, but also for improved performance in their

professions  and  daily  activities.  When  I tell  people  that I  am a  Practitioner  of

Structural Integration, they usually ask, "what is it and what will it do for me?"

WHAT IS STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION?

Structural Integration is a 10 session process of re-

educating the body through  movement and touch.

It  systematically  releases  patterns  of stress  and

impaired function. This happens by the practitioner

melting  the  fascia  tissue  with  heat  and pressure

created by weight delivered through gravity.

Gavity's constant effect on any soft pliable mass

is  to  make it a formless,  chaotic,  condensed and

compressed unit.  The primary focus of Structural

Integration is improving  the relationship between

gravity   and   the   human   body.   The   earth's

gravitational field is the most potent physical force

that  the human  body has to  deal with.  Although

most  people  realize this  tremendous force exists,

they  somehow  believe   they  are  immune   to  it!

Gavity's constant effect on any soft, pliable mass is

to make  it a formless, chaotic  and spherical  unit.

Since the body has a  great deal of plasticity and is

much  broader  at  the  top  then  at  the base,  it is

greatly affected by gravity when imbalances exist.

Most bodies are in a state  of imbalance.  As we

grow  older,  we often 'shrink' in  height and slowly

lose flexibility. Our bones stay the same length and

our  muscles can still function,  but the  connective

tissue is  what changes the most.  Connective tissue

is the  support system  of  our body.  All the major

systems in the body- circulatory, digestive, nervous

, musculo-skelatal,  and  organs are  ensheathed in

connective    tissue.     A   healthy   and    balanced

connective    tissue   system's   characteristics    are

flexibility, elasticity, length and resilience.

         GREG   HAGAMAN   -   PRACTITIONER

Greg was a member of the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton

team  from  1985-97.  His  interest  in wholistic  health

health  began  while  he  was  a  bridge  painter  and  a

commercial  fisherman.  Both occupations  put a great

demand on his body and many times he worked in pain.

His search  for ways to  become pain-free  lead him to

Structural  Integration.  Greg  has been  a practitioner

since 1998. He is certified by The Guild for Structural

Integration  where he  studied  in  Boulder  and  was a

member  of  the  first  graduating  class  from  satellite

Kuai,   Hawaii.    Greg   also   studied   under   private

intruction  in  Bangalor,   India.   He  has  practised  in

Europe,   India,   New York  and  Rhode Island.   Greg

enjoys yoga, hiking and biking when he's not caring for

or playing with his young son Shane.

The Ten Sessions

Outside layer

Session one gives  the rib-cage vast flexibility,  allowing the lungs to expand more freely.  The first layer of

tension dissolves from the pelvic and hamstring area.

Session two, the "grounding" session, focuses on the foot, ankle and lower leg at the knee. A solid base can

correct dysfunction and discomfort all the way to the head.

Session three stabilizes through lengthening the sides, releasing shoulder girdle and opening the lower back.

Creating space between the hips and the rib-cage is a primary goal.

Core Sessions

Session  four we work and  release  the inside  of the leg up  into the pelvic floor.  After feel your  legs come

under  your  body as peristaltic  gravity lifts  your core.   Session five revisits  the chest and  shoulders then

works the belly and psoas. This enables you to access your lower.

Session  five revisits the  chest and  shoulders then works the belly and psoas.  This enables  you  to access

your lower belly, making the connection between upper and lower body more profound.

Session  six starts at the feet,  works up the back of  the legs, then deep into  the buttocks.  This work gives

space to the lower back and sacrum and will alleviate sacral-iliac issues.

Session seven  deals with shoulders, neck, and head.  The keystone of the series, this session  is referred to

as "getting your head put back on". You will feel effortlessly tall after this one.

Coming Together

Session  eight and nine  rework and  fine tune  the upper  and lower body.  Completion of the  lower session

leaves  you walking aligned, your  legs swinging like  pendulums from the upper and lower back.  The upper

session creates a deeper connection to the whole body.  Core connection between the two halves along with

new ability to access and articulate will result.

Session ten  is the final go  around to  absolve any  stubborn  spots and  balance the  symmetry of the  body.

Gratification of a completed up-graded you shall emerge after this session.
